Responding to recent international interest, Finnish food industry has started to invest strongly in the development of oat products. Flakes, muesli and a large selection of bakery products can be made out of oats. Finnish specialities are instant oat porridges with berries and oat based yoghurt. Oat is tasty and functional ingredient for bread, too.
Export
Oats are available in Finland both as grain and various manufactured products. Oat grain is exported to more than 15 countries and the market is expanding. The trend is to export processed products instead of bulk grain.
A wide range of oat products is exported. Besides processed products, Finnish companies also provide special expertise in oat product baking with oats and in the refining of oat bran and oat fibre products.
