Weight management
There are several large-scale studies on obesity and weight control running in Finland. The impact of texture and composition of foodstuffs on satiety, the effect of different products on appetite and the regulation of the energy balance have been studied.
The Finnish food industry has played a decisive role in developing products that meet the recommendations of nutritional experts on the amount and quality of fat and salt. Light products, in which the energy content is at least 30% less than in equivalent traditional products, have been launched onto the consumer market. The wide product range includes products such as milk, cheese and meat products with low levels of fats.
