Production
A total of 200 species of wild and edible mushroom species is found in the nature of Finland. The most commonly cultivated mushroom species in Finland are champignon, shiitake and oyster mushroom.
Finnish mushroom production has several benefits resulting from a pure and abundant raw material for growing substrate. Ecological impact of production is very low and in many cases environmental issues are routinely taken into account in production. All employees handling mushrooms for wider distribution have a special hygiene training to ensure cleanness of food items.
Typically, most of the Finnish produces farm mushrooms organically, hence ensuring pure products.
Export
Finnish mushroom products are marketed to central Europe, particularly to Germany, but also to Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands and Belgium.
